About Me
Early Life and Education
I was born in Alice, a rural educational town in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Growing up in a family led by my father, a local businessman who embarked on several entrepreneurial ventures, I learned the importance of hard work, innovation, and community from an early age. My fascination with technology began at age 14 when I discovered personal computers. I would spend endless nights tinkering on an old 386 PC, and that passion for technology has never waned.

This early curiosity propelled me to pursue a career in Information Technology. I earned my B.Com. in Information Systems from the University of the Witwatersrand, followed by a B.Com. Honours in Information Systems from the University of Fort Hare. I then completed my M.Com. in Information Systems at the University of Cape Town, where my research focused on using Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) to improve access to education for underprivileged learners in South Africa.
Professional Journey
I founded Akili IT Services in 2004 with a vision to provide innovative information technology solutions to state-owned entities, financial services, and higher education organisations. As CEO, I have driven the company’s growth into a leading Microsoft Solutions Partner, building a reputation for excellence in digital transformation, IT governance, and cloud solutions. My roles have ranged from Systems Administrator to Chief Technology Officer, and each experience has deepened my understanding of enterprise architecture, project management, and strategic IT initiatives.
I have had the privilege of working with esteemed clients such as the Auditor General of South Africa, Robben Island Museum, and the Development Bank of Southern Africa, leading technical teams to deliver impactful IT solutions. My work has always been about more than just technology; it’s about adding real value, fostering innovation, and building sustainable systems that can stand the test of time.
